BEES: Beekeepers say they will take hives off land near Gisborne because of unexplained losses of bees over the past two years, despite efforts by Bayer CropScience to persuade them there is not link between the deaths and squash crops grown from seed treated with the systemic chemical imidacloprid.
Without the hives the squash crop will not pollinate adequately
